If you haven’t made Halloween plans yet, there’s still time! Whether you’re looking for something to do from home, something family-friendly, or an adults-only event, you’ll find it in Houston.
Without further adieu, here’s a rundown of the Houston Halloween events in 2021:
Chillax at Home with Freeform’s “31 Days of Halloween”
Freeform has an extensive schedule of family-friendly Halloween movies every night for the entire month. Their nightly lineup is perfect for grabbing some popcorn and relaxing on the couch, or providing the right background ambiance for baking goodies and handing out Halloween candy.

Play Houstonopoly Before it Ends
This life-sized version of Monopoly was already a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but now that it has been retrofitted for Halloween, it’s simply a must-do event! Described as an “Instagram-worthy experience,” Houstonopoly will close at the end of the month. Here’s what they’re saying about it:
The live game is broken up into two sessions during the daytime where children and families can paint pumpkins, play games and win candy. In the evenings, players 16 and up can enjoy an interactive “fright-fest” fitted with multiple haunted rooms, activated with spooky props, special effects, and live Halloween characters. In addition to large props, the space also features a sprawling Dia De Los Muertos mural by local artist Franky Cardona. ”Much like the actual board game, players can still earn money, you still roll dice to play the game,” Handrinos says. “But at nighttime, we bring out our dare cards that will send players into different haunted rooms.”
Get Gross at Children’s Museum Houston
Fun for children and adults alike, Grosstopia is the perfect combination of educational entertainment. With daily activities and interactive displays, there’s a little something to gross out everyone! Here’s what Children’s Museum Houston has to say about Grosstopia:
“This October, take a dose of gross as you discover spine-tingling experiments, spirit-lifting interactive and slime-filled fun during Halloween Grosstopia™. Creep your way through the Museum in search of goblins, goodies and goo! Grab your favorite costume and your best ghoul-friends to set out on a trick-or-treat quest every day.
Sensory-Friendly Fun for All Kids
Pass Halloween afternoon doing crafts and enjoying Autism/sensory-friendly activities at Absolute Behavior Advancement’s first annual Halloween Spook-tacular! The event boasts food, fun, raffle prizes, sensory-friendly dancing, and more.
Check Out Zoo Boo
Here’s what Houstonia Mag has to say about Zoo Boo:
“Visit the Houston Zoo for the month-long Zoo Boo. Take a ride on the Scary Go Round, exhibit the Lantern Tunnel near the lions and, snap fab-boo-lous selfies around the zoo’s Instagram-worthy installations. Dying to have more fun? The Zoo Boo will begin to glow after-hours for one night only on Friday, Oct. 29.”
