Curious about the “and Sports” part of Stark Chiropractic and Sports? Dr. Stark isn’t only a chiropractor, she’s also a sports chiropractor.
Is Sports Chiropractic the Same as Chiropractic?
No! Both chiropractic and sports chiropractic fall under the umbrella of Sports Medicine. That doesn’t mean they’re the same thing, though. There are several key distinctions between chiropractic care and sports chiropractic. Perhaps most importantly, sports chiropractors have a variety of additional certifications, above and beyond a traditional chiropractor.
Sports chiropractors have advanced certifications in sports medicine including:
- advanced knowledge of emergency procedures
- soft tissue techniques
- taping and sports injuries
In short, a sports chiropractor does everything that a regular chiropractor does, plus holds additional advanced certifications. Dr. Stark is a sports chiropractor and holds these additional certifications.
What Does Sports Chiropractic Treat?
Sports chiropractors have advanced training in assessing and treating a variety of injuries that most commonly occur during sports. For example, a sports chiropractor treats:
- Concussions
- Sprained ankles
- Tennis elbow
- Knee pain
- Impact and fall injuries
- Other sports injuries in all athletes from weekend warriors to professionals
Dr. Stark focuses on rehabilitation and return to play protocols as a part of her treatment plans.
Is Sports Chiropractic Only for Athletes?
The answer is a resounding “no!” Absolutely everyone can benefit from sports chiropractic. A sports chiropractor’s advanced training can translate into everyday activities including:
- Prolonged sitting
- Walking
- Repetitive motion injuries
- Job related activities
In other words, just about everyone in motion can benefit from the advanced training of a sports chiropractor!
